Who These Tours Are Geared Towards

My tours are designed for the independent traveler– people who like adventures and get excited about exploring new places; who can be very easy-going and flexible; who can manage without all their daily creature comforts; who are satisfied with comfortable, not luxurious, accommodations; and who are in good health.

My tours are primarily spiritual. Itineraries focus on sacred sights, temples, and ashrams. The pace of the tours tends to lean towards relaxed, allowing a few days to settle into each destination. Plus of course, there's always time for shopping!

My tours are not for everyone. India is not a place to go for a restful vacation; it is as stressful as it is sublime. Think of it more as an adventure in the true sense of the word. To determine if this is the kind of tour for you, read on, then check out my online test on the next page!

What I do
Think of me more as an organizer and consultant rather than a tour guide. I arrange the destinations, hotels, and travel (airlines, trains, airport transfers), and guides in some locations.

Once we are in India, my goal is to help you become comfortable and facile enough with the customs and logistics of travel in India so that you can progressively feel confident to navigate it on your own.

In addition, before we go, I sponsor a few Bay Area get-togethers to take everyone through all the logistics in preparing for the trip and to provide an opportunity for group members to meet one another. Click here to see meeting dates for this year's tour.

What I don't do
I don't brief you on each of the places we visit. However, I will provide you with links on my website plus recommend guide books if you want to know more about where we'll be visiting.

I don't provide hour-by-hour itineraries but often leave days open for personal exploration.

I don't personally provide guided tours in each of our destination, but in some places I hire a guide for the group.

How it works
Before we go, group members are encouraged to research the places that we will be visiting and share information and web sites with others in the group. Once we arrive, we meet as a group each day, usually at breakfast and dinner, to debrief our day's adventures and to see who's interested in doing what the next day. Some days we all explore together; some days small groups go here and there; some days people go out on their own. It's up to you. So you get the support and companionship of a good group of people and the freedom of not being boxed into a fixed daily schedule.
